Red Butte Garden

Head to the Red Butte Garden, a large botanical garden and arboretum that the University of Utah maintains. Open year-round, there are plenty of events, nature walks, and sights to view and experience. If you’re looking to get in touch with nature, there’s nothing quite like getting a breath of fresh air among these gorgeous gardens. For more information and event dates, check out the Red Butte Garden website

Hit the Slopes

Home to “the greatest snow on earth,” skiing and snowboarding in the canyons surrounding Salt Lake City will provide you with some of the best snow experiences you’ve ever had. We suggest heading to snowbird for more skilled skiers and snowboarding enthusiasts, while Brighton is an excellent place for beginners to learn and practice. If you’re looking for a resort that has something for everyone, Deer Valley and Park City ski resorts are known worldwide for their large selection of ski and snowboard runs as well as miles and miles of backcountry.

Hike Ensign Peak

Maybe it’s not so much of a hike as it is a steep nature walk? Either way, this trail only takes an average of 20-minutes to get to the top and offers the valley’s best views below. The trailhead is tucked away at the top of a residential area behind the capitol building, but one quick search on your GPS, and you’re sure to find this well-loved hike.

Indulge in the Many Local Eateries

While Salt Lake City might not be known for its food all across the world, you’ll find that many Utah locals love frequenting the city to check out some of the best breweries, restaurants, and brunch spots. If you move to Salt Lake City, you’ll find many independently-owned restaurants that offer everything from affordable casual eats to upscale food-fare.

Catch a Utah Jazz Game or a Concert at the Vivint Arena

The Vivint Arena is strategically placed in the heart of downtown. The incredible venue is home to the Utah Jazz, and if basketball isn’t really your thing, this indoor stadium makes for a great concert experience. Filled with a wide variety of food and drink vendors, heading to the arena for a basketball game, concert, or another event makes for a fun date night or night out with friends. For more information, event dates, and box office sales, visit the Vivint Arena website.

Visit Temple Square

Whether you’re a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints faith or not, you’ll still enjoy the breathtaking views and architecture of Temple Square. Located right in the middle of downtown Salt Lake, Temple Square has beautiful Christmas light displays during the holidays, while the spring brings hundreds of newly sprouted tulips. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, plus you can grab some lunch, dinner, or hot chocolate in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, located on Temple Square grounds.
