How To Pack Like A Pro When Moving To Utah

You’re going to be moving to Utah soon, but you haven’t started packing. It can be overwhelming knowing where to start, but with a bit of guidance and some cardboard boxes, you’ll be ready to hit the road and make haste to your new home in no time.

While it’s important to get your new utilities set up and start shopping for decor to fit your new home, you shouldn’t brush off the importance of packing like a pro if you want to avoid damaging or losing your belongings during the move. Here are some tips that will have you packing like a pro!

How to Get Started

You’re going to want to start by packing away your most unused items first. This way, you still have access to all your necessities while you wait for moving day. This includes moving things out of places like your garage, attic, basement, and storage closets. Make sure that you keep everything from each room together so that unloading at your new home is quick and easy.

Packing Your Electronics

Electronics can be fragile and costly items to replace if broken during the move. The best way to prevent damage is to pack them into their original packaging if you happen to have them still. If not, it’s recommended that you:

  • Take pictures of wires and cables so that you know where they were hooked up.
  • Use masking tape to secure wires to the electronics.
  • Wrap your electronics in bubble wrap or thick blankets to reduce impact damage.
  • Make sure that they’re packed tightly in a box so they can’t move. Label the box as fragile.

The last thing you want is to turn on your TV after a long day of moving to Utah only to find that the screen is cracked.

Label All Your Boxes

How often have you moved into a new place only to find that you don’t know where anything is, so you have to spend hours digging through boxes and moving them here and there until they’re in the appropriate room? While you’re packing, make sure that you label your boxes as you go, keeping them together in piles for easier distribution.

Make sure that you’re also labeling anything that needs to be marked as fragile, as well. You’ll thank yourself when you get to your new home and can place boxes down in the right rooms just by looking at the labeling.

Be Extra Careful with Breakables

As we’ve mentioned briefly, make sure that you take the time to pack fragile items with more caution. Whether you’re using bubble wrap, blankets, or thick clothing items like coats, make sure they’re wrapped tightly and boxed, so they don’t have room to move around. You can do this by filling up the unused space in a box with clothes.
